Real-time systems that reach a continent before the rain does.

I'm a full-stack engineer six years into building customer-facing products, event-driven AWS platforms and the developer tooling around them. At Pelmorex I led the architecture and delivery of the precipitation alerting platform behind The Weather Network. On my own time I'm building Korsara — a platform designed for creators selling information, and is running on infrastructure I provision and operate myself.

A radar display centred on 43.209 degrees north, 79.996 degrees west, with a sweep illuminating simulated precipitation returns.

Four things worth reading about

Three of these have a case study behind them. The fourth is the two years of freelance delivery that taught me how to finish things.

Tech lead on a real-time precipitation notification platform reaching subscribers across Canada and the United States well inside a ten-minute window: NetCDF ingestion, GDAL geospatial masking, sparse tiling and autoscaled delivery.

  • TypeScript
  • AWS
  • GDAL/rasterio
  • Terraform
  • ECS

Pelmorex — The Weather Network

Systems I helped scale at The Weather Network

Senior ownership across four more systems alongside the precipitation platform: government weather alerts, the Maps SDK, an event-driven content API, and a Search API re-architected off Kubernetes onto AWS.

  • TypeScript
  • AWS
  • Terraform
  • PostgreSQL
  • MapLibre GL

A platform for people who sell what they know: courses, sales funnels, email marketing and AI-assisted content creation in one product. I design it, build both halves, and run the AWS infrastructure it sits on — Next.js and Django, Stripe Connect, and LangGraph agents that turn a newsletter into a week of social content.

Two years of independent delivery: discovery with the client, technical design, build, deployment and the support afterwards. Reusable front-end and back-end components in Next.js, Tailwind CSS and Django.

Track record

Where the experience comes from

  1. Oct 2022 — Present

    Pelmorex Corp

    Software Developer, Full-Stack EngineeringOakville, ON

Full-stack and platform work across The Weather Network's consumer products and the services behind them.

    • Tech lead on the architecture and delivery of a real-time precipitation notification platform — NetCDF forecast ingestion, GDAL/rasterio geospatial masking, and a sparse tiling pipeline — reaching subscribers across Canada and the United States well inside a ten-minute window, often much faster, coordinating two developers and one developer-in-test.
    • Scaled the platform's consumer fleet with spot-instance autoscaling driven by SQS queue depth, and cut wasted work by dropping empty tiles before they ever reached a queue.
    • Took senior ownership of the parallel government alert pipeline (ECCC, NWS, NAADS, MeteoAlarm), normalising four CAP alert formats into one schema and sharing the Firebase Cloud Messaging publishing layer that gets a government alert to a phone within about a minute.
    • Re-architected the location Search API off Kubernetes and onto AWS: multi-region Aurora Postgres, schema-separated environments that avoided a second database, trigram, fuzzy and phonetic SQL matching for typo-tolerant results, three Terraform-managed environments, and cross-region CloudWatch dashboards.
    • Designed and provisioned multi-environment microservices platforms and APIs using AWS and Terraform infrastructure as code.
    • Built and deployed an AI-assisted pull-request review service in Python, FastAPI, LangChain and Pydantic, wiring Bitbucket webhooks, Jira acceptance criteria and code diffs into structured file- and line-level findings.
    • Took senior ownership of an event-driven content-management API on API Gateway, SNS/SQS fan-out, Lambda, S3 and CloudWatch to keep editorial content in sync from Contentful through to CloudFront.
    • Took senior ownership of the Maps SDK (MapLibre GL, MapTiler Weather, WebGL particle wind fields) delivering radar, precipitation, cloud, temperature, wind, road conditions, wildfire smoke and hurricane forecast layers.
  2. Aug 2020 — Oct 2022

    Linked Web Inc.

    Freelance Full-Stack DeveloperOntario, Canada

Custom websites and web applications for clients, owned end to end.

    • Built and launched custom websites and web applications, translating business requirements into responsive, production-ready experiences.
    • Owned delivery across client discovery, technical design, development, deployment and post-launch support.
    • Developed reusable front-end and back-end components in Next.js, Tailwind CSS and Django.
  3. Graduated April 2019

    York University

Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, Computer EngineeringToronto, ON

    Lassonde School of Engineering.

A back catalogue of full-stack build-alongs

I recorded tutorial projects on YouTube while I was freelancing. The frameworks have moved on and I have not posted in a few years, but the playlists still show how I break a build down and explain it, which is most of what they were for.
